We're deep in the 2016-17 school year.
The third contest of the season went down in north central Florida, and we were stoked to return to Gainesville, FL!
We love visiting Florida, so it was great to come back for our 2nd annual contest! Our first annual event in Gainesville was on the Insta Ramp at FreeRide Surf & Skate Shop, but this year we held it at Possum Creek Skatepark. We had our Student and Non-student Divisions, so everyone got their share of the action and the crowd was down for a great day!
Students came out from the University of Florida, University of Central Florida, Pasco-Hernando State College, Santa Fe College and the University of South Florida. Our non-student rippers visited from all over the state, and the locals of Gainesville came out in numbers!
We were so stoked to have Monster hooking up beverages and Hydro Flask providing containers for all the competitors' hydration needs. The one and only Billy Rohan came correct as our MC while DJ Curb Cut held it down on the 1’s & 2’s all day!
It was a special treat to have long-time Collegiate Skate Tour competitors (now alumni), Matthew Althar & Alex Rudy, and Spasm Skateboards’s Justin Smith judging the contest.
Here’s who ended up on top:
1. Haze Miller
- student at Pasco-Hernando State College
2. Jordi Zapata
- student at University of Florida
3. Marlee Miller
- student at University of South Florida
1. John Belote
- Gainesville, FL
2. Tommy Walsh
- Gainesville, FL
3. Landy Collada
- Miami, FL
After the main event Jams, we hosted a bowl jam for our transitionally inclined homies. A great mix of skaters rolled in for their shot at more prizes, and it all ended with an over-under doubles routine from Landy Collada & Dante Debose. It was going off!
Other stand-outs included park shark Bobby, Jordi Zapata & Chuey Stirling.

Thanks again to everyone that came out and made the event so epic! Shout Out to the Gainesville Sun for running our story locally:
